I spend a ton of time on the road and am ALWAYS looking for a great place to stop for lunch. When I pass a sign that says "La Cocina de Mami" (Mama's Kitchen), I wonder if it will really deliver. This one was so good, I am looking for excuses to find work in Orlando so that I can keep going back!
This place has TO DIE FOR Puerto Rican food. Located in Kissimmee, it is open Monday - Saturday until 6pm.
Mami and her husband provide a number of daily specials that can be accompanied by "arroz con habichuelas" (the traditional puertorican rice and beans) as well as yuca, platanos. Make sure to ask for the "pegao" - which is the rice that is crispy from the bottom of the pot. I could eat a whole plate of just that!
Below is a picture of my lunch: roasted chicken with the special "salsita" that they make with red onions and cilantro in mojo along with rice and beans.... ENJOY!
