Hands down, I'd rather watch Alton Brown in his various manifestations (Feasting on Asphalt, Good Eats, MC'ing Iron Chef America) than anything else on television. Who else can mix so much information and entertainment into quirky, hilarious and attention-grabbing material? The guy is the Deep Blue Supercomputer of all things culinary without being pretentious for a minute. Watch him making hash browns in the RV of some retired couple named "Woody and Linda" (Feasting on Asphalt - Episode 4 in Monument Valley, Utah) and you realize that the guy can hang with ANYONE! In a channel-rich but content-poor world, this guy deserves nothing but success!
I agree. He's so good at teaching. His props are hilarious, too. I wish I could have him teach me all the stuff I didn't know. It would make me enjoy the process of learning it!

I too just *love* Alton! He singlehandly gave me the information and NERVE to try yeast breads again - with much better success, may I add! What a fab mix of entertainment and information. Gotta love him!

I can watch Good Eats in HD now. Got a new TV and HD service that comes with FOOD-HD. Good Eats is my favorite Food Network show. The first episode I saw in HD was on Water. It was pretty cool. HD rocks.
